Therapeutic peptides like Thymosin Beta-4 (TB4) fragments and BPC-157 are emerging as promising agents for addressing complex renal and neurological disorders. Here’s how they work and why they matter:

Renal Disease: Targeting Fibrosis and Inflammation

TB4 fragments, particularly Ac-SDKP, demonstrate potent anti-fibrotic and anti-inflammatory effects in chronic kidney disease (CKD). By inhibiting TGF-β pathways and reducing collagen deposition, they protect podocytes and endothelial cells from injury, slowing CKD progression. BPC-157 complements this by mitigating drug-induced nephrotoxicity and ischemia-reperfusion damage, preserving kidney function through anti-apoptotic and anti-oxidative mechanisms. Together, these peptides address fibrosis, inflammation, and cellular repair—key factors in renal pathology.

Neurological Repair: From Stroke to Neurodegeneration

BPC-157 shines in central nervous system (CNS) disorders. In stroke models, it reduces hippocampal neuron loss, restores memory, and improves motor coordination by modulating gene expression and reducing inflammation. It also accelerates spinal cord injury recovery, resolving paralysis and enhancing nerve regeneration. TB4’s role in neurological contexts is less studied, but its ability to promote cell migration and angiogenesis could synergize with BPC-157 to support neurovascular repair.

           Synergy in Action

Combining these peptides creates a multiplicative effect:

            TB4 fragments

enhance cell migration and tissue remodeling.

            BPC-157

boosts fibroblast function, growth hormone signaling, and neuroprotection.
Together, they address both structural (fibrosis, neuronal damage) and functional (inflammation, oxidative stress) aspects of disease.

           Future Directions

While preclinical data are compelling, human trials are needed to validate efficacy and dosing. For now, these peptides represent a frontier in regenerative medicine, offering hope for conditions like CKD, stroke, and neurodegenerative diseases

TB4 fragments and BPC-157 are not just healing agents—they’re potential game-changers for multi-organ repair. Their combined use could redefine treatment paradigms for diseases where traditional therapies fall short.

PRP works by releasing growth factors and healing proteins that:

           Why Choose PRP?

PRP is a minimally invasive, natural treatment with low risk since it uses the patient’s own blood. It can reduce the need for surgery, shorten recovery time, and improve overall function.

           Final Thoughts

Platelet-Rich Plasma therapy is revolutionizing regenerative medicine by harnessing the body’s natural ability to heal. Whether you're recovering from an injury or managing chronic joint pain, PRP offers a safe, effective solution for long-term relief and improved mobility.

are special tests that help doctors find out what's happening with your muscles and nerves when they don’t work quite right.

           What is EMG?

Imagine your muscles are like the motors in a toy car. When the motor gets power from the battery, the car moves. In your body, your nerves send signals to your muscles, telling them to move. The EMG test uses a tiny needle to listen to your muscles’ signals. The doctor will place this needle in a muscle and ask you to move it or relax. The needle picks up the tiny electric signals from your muscles and helps the doctor figure out if something’s wrong, like if the nerve isn’t sending the right signals or if the muscle is not working properly.

           What is NCS?

The NCS test looks at how fast the signals travel through your nerves. Little sticky pads are placed on your skin, and the doctor sends a small, safe electric pulse through your nerves. It’s kind of like giving your nerves a quick “zap” to see how fast they respond. This helps the doctor find out if a nerve is hurt or not working well.

           Why Are These Tests Important?

EMG and NCS help doctors figure out if nerves or muscles aren’t working properly and why you might feel pain, numbness, or weakness. They give the doctor important clues to help make you feel better!

           Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery (MISS)

Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery (MISS) is a modern surgical approach designed to treat spinal conditions with smaller incisions, less muscle damage, and quicker recovery times compared to traditional open surgery. Using advanced imaging and specialized instruments, surgeons can perform procedures such as:

            Microdiscectomy:

Removal of herniated disc material pressing on nerves.

            Laminectomy:

Decompression of the spinal canal to relieve pressure.

            Spinal Fusion (Minimally Invasive):

             Stabilizing vertebrae using small incisions.

Spinal Fusion: Cervical, Lumbar & Sacroiliac Joint Fusion

Spinal fusion is performed to stabilize the spine and reduce pain caused by degenerative conditions, fractures, or deformities.

            Cervical Fusion:

Fuses vertebrae in the neck to treat herniated discs, spinal stenosis, or instability. This procedure can relieve nerve compression that causes pain, numbness, or weakness in the arms and hands.

            Lumbar Fusion:

Targets the lower back, treating conditions like degenerative disc disease and spondylolisthesis. By fusing two or more vertebrae, this procedure prevents excessive movement that causes pain and nerve irritation.

            Sacroiliac (SI) Joint Fusion:

The sacroiliac joint connects the spine to the pelvis and can be a source of chronic lower back and hip pain. SI joint fusion stabilizes this area using minimally invasive techniques, reducing pain and improving mobility.

           Final Thoughts

Neurosurgical advancements in spine care are helping patients regain mobility and improve quality of life. Whether through minimally invasive techniques or spinal fusion, modern neurosurgery continues to evolve, offering better outcomes with shorter recovery times.

           How Does Acupuncture Work?

According to Chinese medicine, Qi flows through meridians or pathways in the body. When blockages occur, they can lead to pain, stress, and illness. Acupuncture targets these blockages, promoting natural healing and improving overall well-being.

Arthroscopic surgery is a minimally invasive procedure used to diagnose and treat joint problems. It involves inserting a small camera (arthroscope) into the affected joint, allowing surgeons to view, repair, or remove damaged tissue with precision.

           Common Applications:

            Knee Arthroscopy:

Treats meniscus tears, ACL injuries, and cartilage damage.

            Shoulder Arthroscopy:

Repairs rotator cuff tears, labral tears, and impingement issues.

What is Peripheral nerve stimulation (PNS)?

Shoulder pain is a common problem that can significantly impact a person's life. From everyday tasks like reaching for items on a high shelf to participating in physical activities, chronic shoulder pain can make the simplest activities challenging. For many individuals, traditional treatments such as pain medications and physical therapy may not provide adequate relief. When this happens, a peripheral nerve stimulator could be a good option for helping with chronic shoulder pain.

Peripheral nerve stimulation (PNS) is a minimally invasive procedure that involves implanting a small device near the affected nerve to deliver electrical pulses that block pain signals. This treatment has been shown to effectively reduce pain and improve function in patients with chronic shoulder pain that has not responded to different treatments.

A key benefit of PNS is that it targets the source of the pain directly, providing pain relief without needing high doses of pain medications that can have side effects. Additionally, PNS can be adjusted by a healthcare provider to increase pain relief, making it a personalized and effective treatment option. PNS can also be removed if a patient does not wish for the treatment anymore. This makes it a low-risk treatment instead of having to commit to a permanent procedure.

While peripheral nerve stimulation is not appropriate for everyone with chronic shoulder pain, it can be a valuable tool for those who have not found relief with other treatments. If you are considering PNS for chronic shoulder pain, it is important to talk with a healthcare provider who has experience with this procedure to decide if it is the right option for you.

COVID Long Haulers

Not only does Covid-19 affect the heart, lungs, stomach and kidneys, but it is now known that the virus affects the brain. In a study done with 128 Covid Patients, 10 weeks after patients had the virus and had tested negative, they still reported a persisting, debilitating fatigue. Those with the post-covid persisting fatigue both came from groups that dealt with both more severe forms of Covid-19 and less severe forms of Covid-19.

In another study done with 3,792 Covid patients from around the world, 7 months after contracting the illness, 78% reported fatigue, 57% reported cognitive dysfunction, and 68% were still unable to work.

These patients are now known in the medical world as “long haulers” due to their persistent symptoms long after contracting the virus and no longer testing positive. These long-term effects of Covid can also lead to other infectious diseases and make those more prone to contracting illnesses.

As of now, the only treatments that are available to help with the symptoms of Covid-19 long haulers are physical therapy, to restore fatigue and help patients get back to work and being on their feet; as well as IV therapy, which can restore the vitamins and minerals missing from your body to restore cognitive function and possibly minimize fatigue

Rosebank medical center has all of these options available to you, so if you have had covid and still suffer from symptoms such as fatigue, weakness in the muscles and bones, and impaired cognitive function. Reach out to speak to a specialist to get the help you need.

Hemiplegic Shoulder Pain Treatment

Hemiplegic shoulder pain is a common complaint of individuals who are recovering from a stroke. Rosebank Sports Medicine offers a variety of treatments for this pain at our clinic.

Hemiplegic Shoulder Pain Treatment at Rosebank Sports Medicine

One of the most common medical complications after a stroke is hemiplegic shoulder pain (HSP). Studies have shown that around 84% of patients that have had a stroke get HSP in their lifetime. This onset usually occurs quite rapidly after a stroke, though others have reported peak onset and severity to be around 4 months after stroke. Luckily, if you are suffering from HSP, Rosebank Medical Center has a variety of treatment options for you.

           Positioning Aids

Positioning aids such as Kinesio taping are vital in the betterment of HSP. The tape can reduce mechanical retention and restriction of movement. When prescribed, wearing kinesio tape once usually lasts 3-4 days. A study involving 21 patients found that patients with HSP had greater reductions in pain and improved flexion in the shoulders along with external and internal rotations after 3 weeks of kinesio taping.

           Physical Therapy

Physical therapy is an integral part of recovering after a stroke, especially with HSP as an additional symptom. Therefore, passive range of motion (PROM) should begin as soon as the patient is medically stable. When physical therapy is administered for 30 minutes a day, 5 times a week, for 4 weeks, patients have had significantly less pain and increased ability in shoulder movement. Physical therapy is also tailored to the patient and other exercises will aid in stabilization and neuromuscular re-education.

           Electrical Stimulation

Electrical nerve stimulators, such as TENS, provide an external electrical stimulus to the affected limb, in turn, decreasing pain. At higher intensities, the electrical impulses activate muscles to prevent atrophy. Compared to PT only, patients have shown maintained improvement of pain for 12 weeks after intervention. Here at Rosebank Medical Center, we have a multitude of different electrical nerve stimulators that can fit your needs and allow you to tailor your treatment to what is right for you.

           Injection Therapy

Injection therapies such as PRP (platelet-rich plasma) has been proven to help tendinopathy and osteoarthritis of the knee and can also help HSP. This is done by taking a few vials of your own blood and injecting the concentrated platelets into injured sites so you can heal your own body. Hyaluronic acid is also proven to have improvement in the relief of hemipeligic shoulder pain, especially when it comes to nocturnal pain. Nerve blocks are also another option for treating hemipeligic shoulder pain and are shown to improve pain and range of motion, especially when combined with physical therapy.

           Acupuncture

Acupuncture is thought to release neurohormones to relieve pain by stopping pain signals in nerves and increasing energy flow throughout the body. While acupuncture should not be the sole treatment for HSP, it is shown to improve pain and range of motion when used with other therapies and treatments.

           Surgery

Surgery is considered a last resort for patients with HSP. This is usually considered when other management modalities have failed. In surgery, procedures include manipulation under anesthesia, muscle and tendon lengthening, and spinal cord stimulator placement.

A minimally invasive option is a Percutaneous Peripheral Nerve Stimulator (PNS). PNS provides intramuscular nerve stimulation via a needle to directly treat the affected area. Studies have shown significant improvement in patients that have used PNS versus those that just used physical therapy.

Here at Rosebank Medical Center, we have a multitude of options when it comes to treating hemiplegic shoulder pain, so that patients can have improvement in pain and are able to regain function and independence.

As we are all well aware of the pandemic going around known as the coronavirus, or COVID-19. What we all know in particular is how dangerous and life-threatening this virus can be. So what is the best way to treat it, you may ask? Vitamin C.

I don’t mean just taking some supplements. The most effective way to get the vitamin C your body needs to stop the virus is through IV Therapy. The Japanese College of Intravenous Therapy (JCIT) recommends intravenous vitamin C (IVC) acute viral infections and virus mimetic infections. This treatment is performed for a few days to replenish the body’s depleting vitamin C to naturally heal. Besides, the vitamin C, the protocol includes other essential vitamins and minerals that are administered intravenously to fight the infection.
